A Collaboration of Trumbull County Children Services, First Step & Parkman Recovery
WARREN, Ohio— Trumbull County Children Services, First Step Recovery, and Parkman Recovery are proud to announce the ribbon cutting for Brighter Beginnings, a new transitional/sober living home for women and their children, on Thursday, March 20th at 11 am.

This collaborative effort was made possible thanks to support from the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. Brighter Beginnings will provide a safe, stable, and supportive housing environment for women in the community who are working towards reunification with their children and a lifestyle of recovery, helping to break the cycle of addiction.
"On behalf of First Step and Parkman Recovery, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Trumbull County Children Services on the Brighter Beginnings grant," said Cindy O'Keefe, MS Ed. LPCC-S, Executive Director. "Brighter Beginnings will provide recovering mothers and their children therapeutic services with the support of child welfare as they begin the reunification process; all while residing in a safe and sober environment. This model will give the support needed for long-term success for both mother and child. We are thankful for the One Ohio Recovery Foundation for making this possible and grateful to be awarded this opportunity to serve women and children in Trumbull County."

“For too long, mothers in Trumbull County battling addiction have faced an impossible choice—seeking treatment or staying with their children."
Megan Martin, Department Director, Trumbull County Services adds, “This will be the first Recovery Housing program for women and children in Trumbull County in a partnership with First Step Recovery and Trumbull County Children Services. Recovery Housing is an important need for women with substance use disorders (SUD) who are involved with our Agency and working towards reunification with their children.“

“The OneOhio Recovery Foundation is proud to support the Brighter Beginnings project with a $851,000 grant,” said Sarah Anstine, director of partnership and outreach for OneOhio. “For too long, mothers in Trumbull County battling addiction have faced an impossible choice—seeking treatment or staying with their children. This project changes that. As someone in recovery myself, I understand firsthand the power of stability and support in rebuilding a life. This home will be a sanctuary—a place where women can heal, find strength in their community, and build a future where families remain together. Recovery is possible, and with the right resources, families don’t just survive—they thrive.”
